XEI Shop “Rider-Waite” Playing Cards Coming Soon!

I just finished sending the 4th set of playing cards–this one featuring art from the early 1900s Rider-Waite Tarot deck–to the printer for a prototype run! The art was remastered and designed to work as a standard 52 (54 inc Jokers) card deck. I may also make a set in the traditional tarot card format, but turning them into playing cards first was too enticing.

The art of these tarot cards are not public domain in the UK (only enter the PD on Jan 1, 2022), but have been in the public domain in the Unites States since 1966 and the art has been featured in numerous art projects since.

The Rider-Waite tarot deck (originally published 1910) is one of the most popular tarot decks in use today in the English-speaking world.  Other suggested names for this deck include the Rider-Waite-Smith, Waite-Smith, Waite-Colman Smith or simply the Rider deck. The cards were drawn by illustrator Pamela Colman Smithfrom the instructions of academic and mystic A. E. Waite, and published by the Rider Company.
